A 32-year-old seamstress and hairdresser, Helen Larley Boye was on February 1, this year stabbed to death by her boyfriend, Ebenezer Nii Acquaye Quaye, 27, at Dansoman in Accra.
The victim, who was stabbed in the chest, close to her heart, also sustained another injury in her left palm and a deep cut on her face.
The knife which was used to carry out the gruesome murder was planted in her right hand so it would look like she had committed suicide.
On the contrary, the Police stated that it was a case of homicide with the prime suspect being Ebenezer Nii Acquaye Quaye, who has since gone into hiding.
Miss Boye’s lifeless body, according to the Dansoman Divisional Police Commander, Superintendent Alex Yartey Tawiah, was seen lying prostrate in a pool of blood at about 5:40 am in the middle of the road, 10 meters away from her father’s house where she lived with her lover.
The Dansoman Police was alerted by the deceased’s father, Emmanuel Milkyson Boye, with whom the departed lived in the same house.
During a preliminary investigation into the sudden death of the young lady, the Police established a lead into the commission of the crime.
The dead body, Superintendent Tawiah said, had since been deposited at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital mortuary pending autopsy.
However, the suspect, Ebenezer Nii Acquaye Quaye, who could not be traced as at now, has been declared a wanted person by the Dansoman Police and the general public is urged to provide information leading to his arrest. He is believed to be in hiding at James Town, Santa Maria, Chorkor, Tema or Achimota.
Furthermore, Superintendent Tawiah told DAILY GUIDE that five days before the unfortunate incident, a quarrel had ensued between the deceased and her unemployed lover over his vacation from the house on February 2, 2009.
Nii Quaye was said to have pleaded for a two-week grace period, which the deceased refused to grant, insisting that he left the house.
She had apparently given him a two-week ultimatum earlier to vacate the house because she was no longer interested in the relationship.
It was again alleged that the victim, who wanted to prove her seriousness with the issue, threw out some personal effects belonging to the suspect.
The Divisional Commander indicated that at about 1:00 am on February 1, 2009 both lovers were reported to have picked up a quarrel in their room and then came outside the building to continue with the quarrel.
He noted that the deceased, though not married to Nii Quaye, lived with him in her father’s house at Damaa in Dansoman due to a misunderstanding the boy had with his own parents sometime ago.
The suspected murderer, he said, then packed his belongings which included a television set, fridge, and a sound system from his parents’ place of abode to live with his sweetheart.
Until Quaye moved in with the deceased in December 2007, they were both living at the suspected murderer’s family house.
