A gynecologist, James Adeje, has called for a urine or scan pregnancy test to determine the veracity of a baby alleged to have been born after 48 months of pregnancy.
Mr. Adeje told Joy News no pregnancy can be maintained for that length of time, adding a proper test is needed to determine the actual duration of the pregnancy.
The baby boy, was born to a 21 year old native of Akyem Techiman in the Eastern Region after an unusual 48 months of pregnancy.
Dr. Isaac Nsiah, a herbalist and spiritualist who delivered the baby alleged evil forces were behind the pregnancy.
The forces he claimed broke up the marriage of his patient, and had wanted to destroy the baby too.
According to him, his concoction made up of anointing oil, cream, soap and gun powder saved the life of the baby.
Dr. Nsiah added, the concoction religiously applied for about a month prevented her patient from having “spiritual intercourse” with the evil forces.
The baby meanwhile is said to be responding well.
Even though Mr. Adeje did not doubt the existence of spirituality, he maintained details of when the pregnancy was diagnosed could well determine the actual duration.
He explained some babies could spend at least six weeks more than the nine months medically approved, but would have different identifiable features.
