The First Medreich/Ernest Chemists Limited Monthly Medal Golf Championship tees off at the Achimota Golf Course in Accra on Saturday, January 31.
Mr. Emmanuel Kwabena Oteng-Aboagye, General Manager of the Achimota Golf Club, who announced this in Accra on Monday, said about 100 golfers are expected to participate in the one-day 18-Hole Medal Play competition.
He said the competition, which shall be played under the rules of the Ghana Golf Association and the local rules of the Club, would be opened to Greater Accra Regional golfers.
Mr. Oteng-Aboagye said entry requirements for the event, which has attractive prizes at stake, was Handicap 18 and 24 for the Men and the Ladies respectively.
The General Manager said an array of golfers expected to participate in the event, included Ian Wilsher, holder of the Ecobank Golf trophy, Jonathan Ane, Bob Evans, Sam Aidoo, Kofi Essel-Koomson, and Kofi Tetterdzi.
Clara Price, Ama Morgan, Esi Cobbina and Victoria Adjei had also registered in the Ladies encounter.
Mr. Mark Bekoe, a Medical Representative of Medreich, said the company was using the competition to introduce a new product, ‘Flex-it’, onto the Ghanaian market and expressed the hope that the product would be patronized when launched.
