National Sports Authority spokesperson Hamid Hamah Issaka died on Sunday morning, a family source has confirmed.
He was pronounced dead at the Police Hospital in Accra hours after being rushed there after complaining of neck pains.
“He felt something in his neck and started coughing around 1am. We rushed him to the hospital and passed [after] some few hours ago,” his son Anisa Hamid Issaka told Ghanasoccernet.com.
Issaka will be buried on Sunday afternoon in line with Islamic customs and traditions.
He was preparing to leave Accra for Tamale on Monday and work on the accreditation for journalists ahead of Wednesday’s 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier between Ghana and Guinea.
