Ian Wilsher scored 44 points to win the Ecobank Ghana Limited Open Golf Championship played at the Achimota Golf Course in Accra on Saturday.
He was followed by Earl Ofori-Attah with 42 points, Kofi Tettedzi took the third position with 40 points while S. Okantey placed fourth with 39 points, beating Sam Aidoo and Kofi Essel-Koomson on count-back.
In the ladies segment Ama Morgan came first with 38 points, Diana Joher took the second position with 37 points, beating Beatrice Vetsch-Vempong and Elizabeth Aku-Yaabah on count-back with the fifth position going to Esther Amedzro with 36 points.
John Dorman won the Professionals category with 139 gross, Emos Korblah took the second position with 143 gross while A.D. Quarshie placed third with 145 gross.
The one-day 18-hole Stable-ford competition, which was opened to amateur and professional golfers throughout the country, attracted 150 participants.
Mr Bob Evans, Captain of the Achimota Golf Club, praised the bank for their immense contribution towards the development of the sport.
He said Ecobank held a unique position on the calendar of the club, sponsoring two competitions every year.
Mr Evans expressed the hope that other corporate bodies and institutions would help the club to develop the sport.
Mr Samuel Ashitey Adjei, Managing Director of Ecobank, said the bank would ensure that Hole 12, which has been adopted by the bank, would remain green at all times.
Mr Adjei on behalf of the bank presented a cheque for 5,000 dollars to the Achimota Golf Club to support its activities.
