Madam Esther Cobbah, wife of Tsatsu Tsikata, former Chief Executive of the Ghana National Petroleum Authority says her family has forgiven former President Kufuor for the “wrong” his government meted out to her family.
Speaking to Citi FM, an Accra-based radio station, Madam Cobba said her family bore no grudge against any person.
Mr Kufuor in the last few hours of his reign granted Mr Tsikata an unconditional pardon from his incarceration following his conviction for causing financial loss to the state and subsequently sentenced to five years imprisonment.
At the time of the pardon, Mr Tsikata was on admission at the Korle Bu Cardiothoracic Centre where he was receiving treatment for asthma.
Madam Cobbah said irrespective of the pardon granted to her husband, her family was set to run the matter through the legal process to “right the wrong.”
“The fact that wrongs have been done and you forgive does not mean that you leave the wrong to exist,” she said.
Tony Lithur, a friend and counsel to Mr Tsikata has said although pardoned, the former GNPC boss still bears several “disabilities” as a result of the conviction which must be cleared using the appropriate judicial processes.
