Police have returned a vehicle mistakenly seized from the Managing Director of Barclays bank, Ghana.
Sources have told Joy News that Mr. Benjamin Debrah was driving around town on Sunday when officers stopped him and took the car on suspicion that it belongs to government.
The car was returned after bank officials presented ownership documents to prove that it belongs to the bank.
The Police have since apologized to Mr. Debrah.
The issue of car seizures has caused considerable embarrassment to officials of both the former and new government.
A vehicle belonging to a brother of former president Kufuor, George Kufuor, which was being used by Chief Kufuor was seized wrongfully and returned later.
The car seizures were fueled by rumours that former government officials were rushing re-register state vehicles.
But the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority has since denied the allegations saying only four vehicles had been registered and that all the necessary documents were presented.
