A media analyst and Director of the African Next Knowledge Brokerage and Interaction, Dr Amos Anyimadu, has dismissed suggestions that the just-ended elections were a referendum on former President Kufuor’s administration.
He said ex-President Kufuor is still popular with the masses although his party lost the election.
Concerns have been raised about the popularity of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) as well as its presidential candidate Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
But Dr Anyimadu said Mr Kufuor had a strong personality and was in tune with the populace and that the NPP could not have lost the elections because of the former President.
He stated that the NPP must have lost in the last general elections for other reasons, stressing “President Kufuor himself was not a candidate in the elections.”
Listen to Dr Anyimadu's arguments in the attached audio.
