The Patrons, Executives and members of the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) have sent their congratulatory message to Professor John Evans Atta Mills on his election as the President of the Republic of Ghana.
A goodwill message signed by the President of SWAG, Mr Ackah Anthony said the Association was full of joy to see a former sportsman and sports administrator ascend the presidency, and expressed the hope that Ghana sports would be better off during his tenure.
Mr Anthony praised Prof. Mills for his election to the highest office of the land and that it is the anticipation of members that his rich sporting background would bring more good tidings to Ghana sports.
“It is our hope that your rich experience as both a sportsman and sports administrator will be brought to bear during your reign to propel Ghana sports to greater heights,” he said.
The SWAG said it was also hopeful that the tenure of Prof. Mills would also see a marked improvement in sports infrastructure throughout the country to help develop the various sporting disciplines.
In his active days as a sportsman, Prof. Mills was a member of the National Hockey team and later featured for the Veterans Hockey Club.
As an administrator, Prof. Mills served as the acting Chairman of the Board of the National Sports Council as well as a Board Chairman of Accra Hearts of Oak Sporting Club.
