Osagyefo Oseadeyo Agyemang-Badu II, President of Dormaa Traditional Council, has appealed to the country's leadership not to condemn the efforts of their predecessors, but rather build on their work to accelerate national development.
The Omanhene, who presided over the Independence golden jubilee anniversary parade at Dormaa-Ahenkro on March six, noted with regret that Ghanaians had apparently endorsed this negative practice.
He noted that in spite of the country's chequered political history, Ghanaians had made and continue to strive at ensuring that Ghana stood tall among her peers.
"In the light of these efforts, it is wrong for any group or individual to pass a blanket judgment that the predecessors did absolutely nothing to move the nation forward", Osagyefo Agyeman-Badu said.
He urged Ghanaians to "brush aside all political and other social differences and give credit to those who deserve it even where we differ on issues".
The Omanhene stressed that 50 years of self-governance must provide the platform for Ghanaians to regard themselves as one people with a common goal and were prepared to work collectively towards national progress.
He commended past and present leaders for working hard and sustaining the relative peace that had culminated in the nation's enviable achievements in the sub-region.
