The Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) Ghana, is embarking on a programme to assist 5000 malnourished children in 58 communities in the Central Region to improve their health conditions.
The communities include Abubonko, Donkorkrom and Dehia in the Cape coast Municipality, Nadwin, Breasi, Egyeikrom and Abee in Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abrem (KEEA) and Mampong, Nsanfo, Dunkwa and Brofoyedru in the Mfantseman district.
Others are Gomoa Simbrofo, Gomoa Ajumako, Gomoa Ogun and Gomoa Osedze all in the Gomoa District.
The rest are Senya Beraku and Ateitu in the Awutu-Effutu-Senya district.
The Districts are within two ADRA operational areas in the Central Region where it has assisted most farmers to improve upon their financial situations and has encourage them to undertake a-forestation and woodlots.
Mr. Evans Lartey, ADRA's Winneba area Field Project Officer (FPO) said this when the Agency undertook a weighing exercise of some children in the beneficial communities in the Gomoa District.
According to Mr. Lartey, the programme, which would last for 12 months, would cover malnourished children between the ages of 6 months and 59 months.
He said ADRA has assisted the communities to grow the Moringa plant, which has been found to contain high nutritious and medicinal properties and appealed to the communities to use it in the preparation of their food.
