The Ashanti Regional branch of the National Democratic Congress has accused the ruling New Patriotic Party of planning to rig the December 28 election run-off.
According to Daniel Ohene Agyakum, Ashanti Regional chairman of the NDC, the ruling party is in cahoot with the police and some electoral officers to execute the rigging.
Addressing a press conference in Kumasi on Friday, to reveal what he purports to be the rigging agenda of the NPP, Mr. Agyakum argued the police will be used to intimidate supporters of the NDC in order to stop them for casting their ballots.
“The second plan of the rigging savage will be to orchestrate acts that will limit the ability of the NDC to record its ecstatic performance in its own stronghold within the region.” He added.
He said Electoral Commission ballot boxes will be replaced with others already thumb printed in favour of the NPP presidential hopeful Nana Akufo-Addo.
Mr. Agyakum also alleges that an official of the NPP, one he failed to mention, has held secret meetings with officials of the EC to ostensibly to carry out the plan.
The chairman indicated, his party will officially petition the EC and the police administration to alert them over the questionable behavior of some of their personnel.
