Leaders of the two major political parties, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and National Democratic Congress (NDC), has been asked to advice their members and supporters not to flout the Public Order Act as they jubilate over the release of the election final results.
Making the call at a meeting with executive members of the two parties, on Tuesday Deputy Commissioner of Police, Akayire Kamparah, Regional Police Commander and Chairman of the regional election security task force said report reaching the national election security task force indicated that there were pockets of tension nation wide.
He, therefore, advised the two parties in particular to exercise restrain and refrain from provoking each other.
DCOP Kamparah said even though spontaneous jubilation could not be controlled, there was the need to ensure that the peace of the nation was not disturbed.
Mr Kwamina Duncan, Regional Secretary of the NPP gave the assurance that the constituency executive of the party have already been ask to help and ensure the maintenance of law and order.
