The People’s National Convention, PNC, says it is disappointed by its abysmal showing in the ongoing national elections.
While four-time presidential aspirant Dr. Edward Nasigrie Mahama is not making much impact in the presidential race, the party is worse off in terms of popular support and parliamentary representation.
The PNC entered the 2008 parliamentary race with four seats, however that number has been halved, while Dr. Mahama is attracting far less votes than he did in 2004.
Bernard Morna, General Secretary of the PNC, said the entire exercise is disappointing after selling the best gentleman and message for the presidential slot, arguing Dr. Mahama is a ‘fine and sincere’ man for the job of president and was hoping Ghanaians had bought the message.
Also to express disappointment at the turn of events is the Convention People’s Party, CPP, whose presidential candidate, Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom, largely expected to garner appreciable numbers to push the poll into a run-off, has already thrown in towel.
Nduom was equally disappointed with his results and called a press conference Tuesday to announce he had given up. The party has also dropped two parliamentary seats and is left with a solitary seat.
