The leader of the People's National Convention (PNC), Dr Edward Mahama, has been receiving warm reception from the people in his home town, Nalerigu, in the East Mamprusi District in the Northern Region for the past three days.
The people, both young and old, would surround Dr Mahama wherever he appeared amidst the shouts of "Abayiwa", meaning two sure, two direct in the Mampruli language.
The people gathered in groups awaiting the arrival of Dr Mahama late in the night.
The town hall meeting ran late into the night at around 11 p.m., but the people were patient enough to wait for his arrival.
Some of the people used torchlights to see their way to the town hall, while others depended on the lights of PNC vehicles to get to the hall.
Interestingly, some people wearing T-shirts of other political parties came shouting the slogan of the PNC and joining in the campaign.
Some of the people told the Daily Graphic that they saw Dr Mahama as their father, brother and son, whom they should support to assume the high office of the presidency.
They expressed the belief that Dr Mahama would promote development and sustainable peace in the area and in the country at large.
Villages visited included Saamini, Langbinsi and Wundua, all in the East Mamprusi District in the Northern Region.
Dr Mahama's message for the people were his commitment to bring development to the area and promote agricultural production, offer quality health care and education to all Ghanaians.
Hajia Alima Mahama of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is the sitting MP for the Narelugu-Gambaga constituency.
She is contesting against Mr Banaba Moses Alando of the PNC, Dia Sugri of the National Congress (NDC) and an independent candidate, Mr Alhassan Ziblim.
