A spirited second half performance inspired Hearts of Oak to a 2-1 victory over Berekum Arsenal in their week two premier league clash at the Ohene Djan Stadium on Wednesday.
Goals from Obed Ansah and Eric Gawu annulled Osei Bonsu’s opener as Hearts maintained their hundred percent record in the two-week old league.
The Phobians, as usual lost hold of the midfield to the visitors, allowing the latter to dominate possession.
It was by no wonder that Bonsu headed home the opener from captain Frank Yeboah’s corner-kick after four minutes.
But their dominance was cut short after the Phobians led in the middle by Kwabena Boafo and Ansah suddenly took charge with several raids into their opponents half.
In the 18th minute, Hearts were given their brightest opportunity but Gawu made a fuss of it, as he shot at the post after rounding Arsenal goalie Thomas Asare following an Ansah move.
The Phobians resumed strongly and succeeded in drawing parity seven minutes on through a penalty after Arsenal’s Saliu Yakubu handled the ball in the box, and the Ansah converted for the equalizer.
Four minutes later, Gawu atoned for his earlier miss by slotting home by rounding Asare again, after David Anars had put him through.
