Seventy three people in four communities in Ajumako-Eyan-Assiam District, have received sums of money under government’s Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP) programme.
Government is implementing the programme in selected regions in the country, which is aim at supporting persons, who are impoverished. It is being sponsored by the United States Agency of International Development.
A total of GH¢1,334.00 was shared among them. They received between GH¢20 and GH¢30.
The beneficiary’s communities were Breman Fawomenya, Attakwue, Atotogue and Oboame.
Mr Thomas Mensah and Mr Ebenezer Biasie personnel from Agona Swedru branch of Ghana Post gave the amount to them in their respective towns under the witnesses of Mr Kenneth Obrempong, District Chief Executive of the area, Miss Abena Serwaa Opare, Social Welfare Officer, Mr James Ampia District Assembly Staff and Mr Justice Abban Non-Formal Education Officer.
Mr Obrempong advised them to use money to start small businesses to help them earn a living.
He urged them to eschew habits like drinking of alcohol and smoking of cigarettes in order to avoid contracting diseases such as cancer and kidney problems.
