The presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party, Nana Akufo-Addo, has promised to set up a Central Regional development fund for the region.
The fund is expected to facilitate development projects in the region that is considered to be one of the poorest regions in Ghana.
Nana Akufo-Addo made the pledge during a regional rally at Victoria Park in Cape Coast as part of the party’s campaign tour of the Central Region on Thursday.
Joy FM’s Benard Shaibu who is on the NPP campaign trail reports Nana Akufo-Addo is bent on ensuring that his party becomes the first to handover power to itself in the annals of Ghana's political history.
The NPP flag-bearer is also promising to revive industries that were abandoned by the NDC government.
Nana Akufo-Addo has therefore cautioned the electorate against committing the destiny of Ghana into the hands of “incompetent, inefficient, non-performing and unproductive persons”.
The campaign trail was met by a huge crowd mostly youth. He said the interest being shown by the youth in the party demonstrates that the NPP is a party of tomorrow.
He believed that the people in the region are discerning enough to decipher good from bad, adding, “I am convinced you will stand steadfast with the NPP come December 7.”
Benard Shaibu says, “Nana Addo suggested that if you vote for him, you have voted for the best team in Ghana’s history with the requisite people, programmes and capacity to deliver good governance.”
