Mr. Alphonsus Arthur, the Assin South District Director of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), has called on political parties to educate their supporters on voting procedures to ensure smooth polls on 7 December.
He said it would prevent voters from wrongly thumb-printing ballot papers, which could create confusion between party agents.
Mr. Alphonsus Arthur made the call at an outreach programme, organised by the NCCE to educate the electorate on how to ensure peaceful polls on 7 December.
He stressed that the parties should undertake house-to-house campaign to educate their supporters on their positioning (parties) on the ballot papers and how to thumbprint them.
Mr. Arthur noted that political tension, which seemed to be mounting in the country, was due to mistrust between the parties, especially the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
He appealed to politicians to stop personal attacks and concentrate on issues and plans they have for solving problems facing the country.
Mr. Arthur appealed to all personnel who would be working on the electoral process on 7 December to observe electoral laws.
“Democracy in Ghana has travelled a long way, therefore, let us protect it to make the nation a beacon of hope for other African countries”, he stressed.
The NCCE has undertaken similar programme at other communities in the area including Nyankomase Ahenkro, Manso, Nsuta and Gyakai.
