AshantiGold SC on Sunday afternoon beat Royal Armed Forces of Morocco 2-0 in the first leg CAF Champions League second round eliminator at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium.
Both goals were scored in the second half.
AshantiGold opened the scores with a spot kick early in the second half through Shaibu Yakubu and with a minute to go in injury time, Striker Alex Asamoah secured his side’s second.
The win puts Ashgold in good stead for qualification into the group stages.
AshantiGold travel to Morocco in a fortnight to play the return encounter.
In a related development, Ghana’s representative in the Confederations Cup, Tema Youth failed to travel to Cameroon to play their first match against AS Doula.
Tema Youth who drew a bye to play in the second round of qualifiers say their travel plans were botched at the last minute thereby preventing them to play in their fist ever continental assignment.
