A young Ghanaian tech startup is offering free taxi rides in Accra on Saturday, August 16, 2014 to people who would request for a ride through the company’s Easy Taxi App in the Google Play Store (android).
In a statement, the company said “by using the Easy Taxi App you can book a ride, choose a destination within the city and enjoy a safe and convenient journey for free between the hours of 9am and 12midnight.”
The company’s Managing Director, Baffuor Appiah-Korang said “we simply want everyone in Accra to have an Easy Taxi experience. Through this promotion, both existing and new users will have the opportunity to use the service and have a feel of how convenient and reliable Easy Taxi is."
He said the 15 hours of free taxi service, each valued at GHC20, is open to both existing and new customers to and from any location within the city, adding that each user is entitled to 2 free rides.
“Here is how it works: Download the Easy Taxi application on your smartphone and sign up for the service (If you haven't already). Ensure to enter your current location and destination in the reference fields, then request for a ride. It’s that simple,” the MD said.
Easy Taxi is an on-demand taxi service that operates through the use of a free mobile app to connect independent drivers registered to the Easy Taxi network with passengers in a smooth, easy and safe way.
The App enables users to order a cab with just one click using their smartphones. It also features customers who documented their journey in pictures and shared their Easy Taxi experience with friends and family on their social media pages.
“So make sure you take a few nice shots while you enjoy your ride,” Baffuor Appiah-Korang said.
