Ghana striker Matthew Amoah continued his superb start to the season by scoring the winning goal for NAC Breda in a 2-1 home triumph over PSV Eindhoven.
Amoah found the net with four minutes remaining, and is the Dutch Eredivisie's top scorer, with nine goals from five games, helping NAC Breda to third position in the table.
Ivorian Sekou Cisse equalised for Roda on 60 minutes as his side drew 2-2 with Heerenveen.
Saidi Ntibazonkiza from Burundi sealed a 3-1 victory for Nijmegen with a goal in the last minute against Vitesse Arnhem.
Morocco's Mounir Hamdaoui was the hero for Alkmaar scoring both goals of the game away at De Graafschap.
ENGLAND
Wigan's Egyptian striker Amr Zaki twice put Wigan ahead only for his side to lose 3-2 away to Liverpool.
Zaki's second strike, a stunning scissors kick from ten yards out, is already a contender for goal of the season.
He remains the top scorer in the league with seven goals from eight games.
Ivory Coast striker Salomon Kalou scored a goal in each half for Chelsea as the Premier League leaders battered Middlesbrough 5-0.
ITALY
Nigeria's Victor Obinna Nsofor scored the final goal as Inter Milan demolished AS Roma 4-0 in Rome.
Inter are top of Serie A with 16 points after seven games.
GERMANY
Two Africans scored for newly-promoted Hoffenheim in their 5-2 thrashing of seasoned side Hannover, which leaves them second in the Bundesliga table.
Chinedu Ogbuke Obasi scored Hoffenheim's second - the club had a dispute with Nigeria over Obasi's participation at the Beijing Olympics, where he picked up a silver medal.
Senegal striker Demba Ba scored his fifth goal of the season for Hoffenheim.
Egyptian Mohamed Zidan rescued Borussia Dortmund with virtually the last kick of the game when he made it 3-3 against Werder Bremen in stoppage time.
SPAIN
Samuel Eto'o made the difference for Barcelona with the only goal of the game as his side edged past Athletic Bilbao 1-0.
The Cameroon striker is second-highest scorer in La Liga with six goals to his credit as Barcelona lie third in the table.
Another Cameroonian, Achille Emana, was on target seven minutes from time a Real Betis beat Mallorca 3-0.
It was Emana's first goal of the season and a first win for Betis.
Morocco striker Nabil Baha scored his second of the season, heading in the equaliser for Malaga in the 31st minute as they came from behind to beat Getafe 2-1.
BELGIUM
Cameroonian Bertin Tomou scored the second goal for Westerlo in a 3-1 victory over 10-man Mechelen.
Niger striker Moussa Maazou opened the scoring for Lokeren, who defeated Kortrijk 2-0.
Gambian Mustapha Jarju Toubabo put 10-man Mons-Bergen ahead with seven minutes remaining, but his side were beaten 2-1 by Standard Liege, who scored with a last-minute penalty.
Nabil Dirara, who recently opted to play for Morocco, scored for Club Bruges, as they came from behind to beat rivals Cercles Bruges 3-1.
Senegalese Mbaye Leye was on target with the first goal for Zulte-Waregem who hammered giants Anderlecht 4-0.
PORTUGAL
Algeria striker Nassim Akrour scored his fourth of the season and the first goal of the game as his side Grenoble drew 2-2 with Caen.
Ivorian Emerse Fae grabbed the winner for Nice, who travelled to beat Monaco 2-1.
Cameroonian Christian Bekamenga continues with his fine form, scoring the lone goal for Nantes over visiting St Etienne.
It was hard luck for Cameroon midfielder Aurelien Chedjou who put the ball in the back of his own net, but his side Lille were still able to hold the league leaders Lyon 2-2.
Rafik Saifi put Lorient ahead in the 12th minute, but the Algerian saw his side lose 3-2 at Paris Saint-Germain.
Ivory Coast striker Bakary Kone and Burkinabe midfielder Charles Kabore were both on target for Marseille, who defeated Valenciennes 3-1 to move to second position.
