The authorities of Osino Presbyterian Secondary Technical Senior High School in the Eastern region are investigating an alleged sex trade involving some of the students in the school.
The leader of the syndicate, a form three student by name Florence Kyere, who is said to be the Girls Prefect in charge of discipline, is on the run and the father, a police officer in Accra has promised to produce the daughter who had sought refuge with him in Accra to face the probe.
Sources at the school told the press that, Miss Kyere has been using her position to intimidate most of the junior girls and succeeded in forcing them to sleep with some male students and also some men in town for a negotiated fee, greater part of which went to her.
The girls who refused to agree to her immoral and wicked arrangements became her target and had no peace in the school. This arrangement went on till Saturday October 11, this year when the whole deal was uncovered.
According to the sources, at about 7:30pm, Miss Kyere ordered a form two student to follow her. The student had no choice than to follow her ‘madam’ who was said to be fearful. The prefect then sent her to a house close to the school which was formally occupied by some teachers of the school and asked her to wait till she (the prefect) returned, warning her not to flout her orders.
After about 30 minutes a form three male student, Michael Oppong Kye, emerged and pounced on the innocent girl. When the girl resisted, Kye was said to have told her he had completed all the necessary arrangement with the prefect so she must soften her stand. Unknown to both the “buyer and seller”, some concerned students who were not in favour of the prefect's immoral activities were trailing her and laid ambush to know what exactly she was going to do with the victim in that house.
So when Kye entered and started struggling with the victim, the students rushed to inform the school’s house mistress, Theresa Addy who followed them to the scene and “arrested” the two. It was during the house mistress' interrogation of the victim that she narrated the whole incident to the authorities.
Master Kye was however marched to the Osino police station by the concerned students who lodged a complaint of attempted rape against him. Kye who was initially detained was later granted bail when the parents intervened. When contacted, the headmaster of the school, Acheampong Sakyi confirmed the story and said he was away when the incident took place but he and the school authorities had instituted a probe into the matter to apply the necessary sanctions against all those who would be found guilty in the scandal to ensure discipline and good moral standards in the school.
The Osino police also said they were investigating the matter.
