Mobile telecommunication giant, MTN Ghana has launched the 3rd edition of its Mobile Money services in Ghana.
The launch coincided with the 5th anniversary celebration of the Mobile Money service introduced by the company.
As part of the celebrations, the management outlined a full pack of activities which include awareness campaign on MTN mobile money, promotions and media interactions.
The mobile money targeted the unbanked, to give them the opportunity to transfer money to friends and loved ones using mobile phones.
Currently there over one million active mobile money customers on MTN with 6.5 million transaction records on monthly basis.
Sales and Distibution Executive Officer, Eric Nyarko pledged MTN’s commitment to working towards forming more strategic partners with organizations that are more into cash management services.
The company has also partnered the Ministry of Women, Gender, Children and Social Protection to disburse funds to the Livelihood Empowerment against Poverty (LEAP) beneficiaries, he revealed.
Mr. Nyarko announced that MTN is also pursuing partnerships with some insurance companies, educational institutions and organizations to ensure that their transactions are done through MTN mobile money.
It is also targeting the small scale enterprises especially the micro finance companies to enable their customers receive their loan disbursement and repayments through MTN mobile money wallets .
