The Osu Traditional Council is to organise a playing cards match between Osu and Ga Mashie at the Kikiriki Restaurant at Osu in Accra on Sunday, October 12.
The match being organized as part of activities to honour FIFA Referee Joseph Wellington, a native of Osu who has been appointed CAF Instructor for West Africa.
Nana Nkosua Mingle, Communications Director of the Osu Traditional Council, who announced this in Accra on Friday, said the one-day event which is under the auspices of Nii Okwei Kinka Dowuona, Osu Mantse would be sponsored by Nadiac Ventures.
He said some of the players expected to feature for Osu include Saka Gargo, Akuffo Ayi Wood and Akwasi Mazola while Nii Ayi Adongo, Sir Klorkwei and George Ayitey would represent Ga Mashie.
Dignitaries expected to grace the occasion include Mr Vincent Odotei Sowah, Chief Executive Officer of Accra Hearts of Oak, Mr Abraham Hammond, a businessman and Mr Addotey Azigi, Assemblyman for Osu Kinkanwe.
A football gala would be played next week as part of the activities to be climaxed with a thanksgiving service on Sunday, October 19.
In another development, Winneba Soccer Intellectuals whipped Dwabo God’s Kingdom Ladies 6-0 in their Central Region Women’s League match played at Agona Dwabo.
Soccer Intellectuals took absolute command of the game right from kick off and scored three goals through Grace Abakah, Mustapha Adiza and Linda Adden before half time.
On resumption of the second half, God’s Kingdom Ladies made two changes to strengthen their team work but the changes failed to deter Soccer Intellectuals from adding three more goals through Christina Yorke to seal the doom of the homesters.
In another League match, Elmina Bafana Ladies drew 1-1 with Dwabo Super Blessing.
