The Ghana Police Service has called on its personnel to uphold the code of ethics of their profession to ensure peace before, during and after Election 2008. Commissioner of Police (COP) Joana Osei Poku, Director-General in charge of Human Resource Development, Ghana Police Service, said “The police administration entreats every officer of the Service to endeavour to approach the election duties with a sense of vision, zeal, impartiality, loyalty and commitment which are the prerequisites for successful elections”. She was speaking at the passing out ceremony for 218 police recruits in Kumasi on Friday. The 70 females and 148 males underwent six months training and general recruit and Ansbert Aingkonge was adjudged the best recruit. COP Poku reminded the police that they were obliged to ensure peace, law and order at all times. She said the police will continue to sentisise the public about personal security and urged members of the communities to collaborate with the police to improve security. COP Poku advised the public to provide the police with information to enable them to effectively fight crimes. She cautioned the recruits against malpractices since the police administration would not spare any personnel who caught violating the law. Source: GNA
