Barring any last minute hitches the ongoing load shedding exercise will be temporarily suspended from Thursday, March 1, till the middle of March.
But the power to shore up shortfalls is not likely to come from the generating plants imported from the United States.
Government has contracted three US companies; Ring-Power, Blanchard and Cat Unitract to provide diesel generating plants with an estimated 110 megawatts of electricity.
The first consignment of the plants arrived in the country on Wednesday morning.
Deputy Energy Minister K.T. Hammond said the full capacity installation should be completed by the end of March.
He was however confident that the local sources of power, and an additional 200 megawatts expected from Nigeria and the Ivory Coast would ensure uninterrupted electricity supply for the highlights of the Golden Jubilee.
