Black Satellites coach, Sellas Tetteh has invited four foreign-based players for Sunday’s African Youth Championship final round first leg qualifier against Gambia scheduled for the Ohene Djan Stadium, Accra.
The quartet are Andre Ayew of French Ligue One side Lorient, Ransford Osei of Israeli side Maccabi Haifa, Sadick Adams of Spanish side Athletico Madrid and Rabiu Mohamed of Spanish second division outfit, Gimnastic Tenerife.
Tetteh told GNA Sports on Sunday after his side’s lone goal loss to Accra Hearts of Oak in a friendly that the invited players are expected to join camp by Tuesday, September 23.
He said that Osei is already in town while Ayew, Adams and Rabiu have confirmed their arrival.
Despite the loss to Hearts, coach Tetteh is upbeat about his team’s chances against the Junior Scorpions, a traditional giant in youth football in the sub-region.
“This game with Hearts served a good preparation for us. We still have some days to wrap up.
“I have heard much about the Gambians regarding their strength and tactics, but they are beatable.”
Ghana has failed to qualify for the last two editions of the African Youth Championship, but coach Tetteh is confident his team would scale over the Scorpions’ hurdle for the event billed for Rwanda next year.
The second leg has been fixed for the weekend of October 10-12.
The winner after the two legs encounter seals a ticket to the final event.
