The Convention People’s Party presidential candidate, Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom, has accused the state media for discriminating against the CPP in the run up to the December polls.
According to him the New Patriotic Party and the National Democratic Congress have been beneficiaries to huge favours by the state institutions, especially the state television.
“Where we attend the same event, attention is given to the two leaders,” he lamented to Joy News.
Citing the just ended Oguaa Afahye Festival, Dr. Nduom said he personally had to make provision for a sitting place because the NPP and the NDC had secured all places meant for the dignitaries.
He also accused the state television for limited coverage of CPP events.
Meanwhile former Deputy Minister of Defence and a member of the National Democratic Congress, Dr. Tony Aidoo, has told Joy news the state television is implementing a deliberate policy to debar critics of the government from appearing on their programms.
According to him, Mr. Kwabena Adjapong, then the press secretary to the president, gave a directive that he (Tony Aidoo) should not be allowed to appear on any programme on Ghana Television.
Since then he had never appeared on any of its programmes, he alleged.
But the Director General of Ghana Broadcasting Corporation, Mr. William Ampem Darko, said he is unaware of any such policy.
He gave the assurance that his outfit would investigate into the allegations and act accordingly.
He however warned that GBC will always ensure high standards, and will prevent people noted for using foul language from appearing on their programmes.
