The Chief of Apam, Nana Edu Effirim X, has appealed to citizens of Apam living abroad to come to the aid of fellow citizens in Apam, especially men, who are sexually inactive.
He made the above call when Apam citizens resident in Italy donated an ambulance, drugs and detergents, all valued at Euro 20,000 to the Catholic hospital in the town.
Nana Edu Effirim X, who received the keys to the ambulance, appealed to the Association to send more drugs, especially sexual performance enhancing agents for “sexually weak” men in the area.
Mr. Henry Bondzie, president of the Italy branch of the Apam Citizens Association and his assistant, Ms. Rebecca Mensah, presented the items on behalf of the Association to the Hospital.
Mr. Bondzie said the items, including the ambulance, were procured by members of the Association, who willingly contributed towards it in order to bolster health care delivery to their relations at home.
The Association donated a similar ambulance to the Hospital last year.
Mr. Bondzie appealed to management to improve the communication network at the Hospital to facilitate easy access to the ambulances by the distressed, especially women in labour in order to prevent complications.
Ms. Mensah said the Association also had plans to mobilise funds to pay national health insurance premiums for citizens who could not afford it.
Dr. Ebenezer Amekah, Medical Superintendent of the Hospital, reassured the Association that the items would be used to enhance delivery of quality health to the people.
Mr. Francis Yawson, Administrator, appealed to citizens and donor agencies to help solve the Hospital’s acute water problem.
