The People's National Convention (PNC) when given the mandate to rule, would revive Dr Kwame Nkrumah's policy that gave top priority to education and the acquisition of variety of productive skills, the Upper East Regional Secretary of the party, Mr. Henry Fatchu, has said.
According to him, that policy would be a shift from the haphazard, hurried, ill-advised and under-resourced implementation of new educational policies that have resulted in the country's present situation of considerable cost with net negative benefits to parents, teachers, pupils and the nation.
Mr. Fatchu said this on Tuesday during the party's primary in Tongo to confirm a Lecturer of the University for Development Studies (DDS), Dr. Michael Wombeogo, as its parliamentary candidate for Talensi Constituency.
The acclamation was supervised by the District Electoral Officer, Mr. Michael Owusu.
"Under the PNC government, the first 12 years of primary, junior and senior high school will be free of any charges and courses that have practical aspects will be taught in a manner that permits pupils and students to appreciate the application of the courses content in real life if the PNC is voted into power," he stressed.
For his part, the Dr Wombeogo thanked the 87 delegates for popularly acclaiming him to contest on the ticket of the party and promised to advocate and articulate the needs of the people for redress when voted as the MP.
