Monsignor Dominic Yeboah Nyarko, Bishop of the Techiman Catholic Diocese has advised the youth to eschew negative attitudes and practices such as the use of hard drugs, alcoholism and pre-marital sex.
Bishop Nyarko gave the advice in a sermon at St. Arnold Janseen Parish church at Kranka on his maiden visit to the area, which coincided with the close of a four-day jamboree of the Catholic Youth Organization (CYO).
He was not happy that many of the youth engage in all sorts of social vices and urged them to abide by the teachings they receive in church.
The Catholic bishop called on parents to closely monitor the movements of their children to steer them away from their peers with questionable characters to enable them to become responsible leaders.
He urged leaders of the church to remain committed and organize programmes that would enhance the growth of the church.
Bishop Nyarko encouraged them to stand firm despite the difficulties they faced as role models.
He led the congregation in prayers for God’s blessings as well as for peace before, during and after the forth-coming general election.
Mr Raphael Kwabena Kudom, president of the parish, commended Rev Gregory Boss, Parish Priest for his hard work in developing the church.
Mr Kudom described the Parish Priest as a development oriented person who had the welfare of the people at heart.
