President John Agyekum Kufuor will be joined by scores of supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), as he launches his personal campaign at Abuakwa in the Atwima-Nwabiagya District of Ashanti on Sunday, to help the cause of the ruling party in the December election.
Confirming this to the Ghana News Agency in Kumasi on Friday, Robert Yaw Amankwaa, Ashanti Regional Chairman of the party, said as a result, "a mammoth rally will be held at Abuakwa, during which leading members of the party will take turns to address the gathering."
He said the speeches to be delivered by the party leaders would centre on the NPP's achievements in all fields of the nation's economy as well as their vision and plans for the nation if given the mandate in the December poll. Mr Amankwaa said the choice of the Atwima-Nwabiagya District as the venue for the launch is very significant in view of the fact that Atwima-Nwbiagya constituency was the seat that the President occupied when he entered Parliament for the first time in his political career in the 1970's.
He said "the President will definitely see this event as a homecoming and we will do our best to assure him of our preparedness to retain the NPP in office in December."
He urged supporters of the party to attend the rally in their numbers to support the campaign and urged them to comport themselves to ensure a successful programme.
