The National Chief Imam, Sheik Osumanu Nuhu Sharubutu has urged Muslims to endeavour to ensure a violence free election. He said Muslims should rather intensify their prayers so that this year’s presidential and parliamentary elections could be conducted in a peaceful manner to promote socio-economic advancement of the country. Sheik Nuhu Sharubutu gave the advice when he addressed the 9th annual celebration of the Fathia Herbal Centre at Mankrong-Junction in the newly created Agona East District of the Central Region. “Muslims should not get involved in electoral violence which is against the tenet of the Holy Quran,” he noted. He said Muslims and Christians had to pray without ceasing to enable the country to continue to enjoy peace, adding that Ghanaians were one people with one destiny and they must not allow elections to destroy the nation. The Chief Imam called on the Muslims to eschew personal hatred, chaos and anarchy which tarnished the image of Islam to promote unity and development. Sheik Nuhu Sharubutu assured Muslims that this year’s Hajj would be conducted in a peaceful manner and urged committee members to work extra hard to ensure a successful pilgrimage. He expressed the hope that the Hajj Committee would live up to expectation so that the blame would not be laid on the door step of the Chief Imam and the government agencies. Hajia Fati Kamatey, Director of the Fathia Herbal Centre appealed to non governmental organizations and foreign donors to assist the centre financially to provide accommodation for the patients. She appealed to the Chief and Elders at Agona Kwanyako and Mankrong-Junction to release land to build a clinic in order to provide health care for the people. Hajia Kamatey appealed to the Food and Drugs Board to expedite action on the approval of herbal medicine sent to its outfit to promote the work of herbal medicine producers. Source: GNA
