Having lost a case to the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Disciplinary Committee over the eligibility of Komi Adzagba in their match against R.T.U, Accra-based Zaytuna United will on Tuesday, September 2, 2008 face the Appeals Committee of the FA.
Daily Guide has learnt that, Zaytuna would be appearing with fresh evidence at the hearing as the club insists that the player allegedly registered for two clubs under the different associations, thus making his appearance illegitimate.
Sources say the player whose name appeared as Komi Adzagba in the Togolese FA’s document was also a player of Asko club of Kara, a club owned by Mr. A. Walla, a top governmental official who is more influential in the current FA set up.
Among the issues to be contended was the alleged change of date of birth of the player to December 31, 1974, which also indicated that he was born in Pkalime in Togo that enabled him to play for R.T.U.
Similarly, the player was alleged to have a different registration document with the Togolese FA, depicting that he was born on September 9, 1979.
However, the more difficult situation would be the possession of two Ghanaian Passports issued in 2002 and 2004 by him and in addition a Ghanaian voter identity card bearing the name Abdul Aziz Kwame Adzagba.
It would be recall that Zaytuna United launched a protest over the eligibility of Komi Adzagba in their match against R.T.U.
R.T.U finished fifth from the bottom in the Onetouch Premier League with 38 points, followed by Hasaacas with 38points, while Zaytuna and Real Sportive had 33 points each. Great Olympics finished last with 24 points.
