Broken heart has several definitions in dictionaries, novels and websites. The Oxford Advance Learners Dictionary defines broken heart as the "feeling of great sadness, especially when your love one is dead or has left you".
Being upset or depressed because someone close and special to your heart has disappointed you can also be termed "broken heart."
"You will be my princess till the end of time because you have the keys to my heart. No doubt, you are not a mere friend but a lover, a confidant and a shoulder to lean on anytime and anywhere." That is how it all begins in courtship.
In response to these head-swelling words, the other person says, ''You too will be my prince. I will die and lay down my life for you because you are my angel and you have made everything that seems so small suddenly big".
Boyle, the writer of "Broken Heart: the Violation of biblical hearts," argues that the Hebrew notion of having broken heart is nothing like what most people usually take it to mean, but that the heart represented orientation towards God's law and ability to maintain an upright heart.
He went on to say that those with broken hearts are those who have lost that ability or orientation and lend themselves to such situations.
The primary cause of most break-ups is unfaithfulness. Family interference and differing religious back¬grounds of lovers can be other causes of break-ups.
Alina Ruigrok, a writer on matters of the heart says that being heart-broken is a pain that no one can understand until they have experienced it themselves. She added that healing a broken heart takes time.
Mending a broken heart is never an easy process to go through but with the right prescription, one will be on the way to recovery and happiness. The first thing one should keep in mind is that it is normal to feel sad and grieve over a break-up, because one has invested all his or her time, love and interest into the other person.
A broken heart can be mended when friends and families encourage the victim. When properly conducted by experienced persons a broken heart can be quickly mended. One is quickly relieved from thoughts and memories that hurt so much.
Seeking professional advice can be of great help to the heart that has been broken. Thinking, calling and visiting one’s ex will not help mend a broken heart
Another way to mend a broken heart is keeping oneself occupied by watching movies, especially comedy to cheer up. Hating your ex-partner will only build up tension and stress which you must try to avoid.
In conclusion, one should be reminded that love is a wonderful feeling and experience but should not be the source of worry, anxiety and mental derangement. It should also not be based on past experiences but on what the future has for every partner.
Leave your past behind and focus on moving ahead.
After all someone will definitely love, appreciate and be there for you.
