The leadership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) should forget about winning the 2008 elections if it failed to rectify the mistakes it made during the 2000 and 2004 elections.
"If we can learn the lessons of history and correct our past mistakes, then we can move ahead with confidence, otherwise, the same fate of losing the elections and remaining in opposition will continue to be with us."
Mr. Clement Kporgbe, Volta Regional Organiser of Cadres of the NDC Foot Solders Front gave the caution in an address at the Volta Regional Cadres Forum in Ho on Wednesday.
He mentioned some of these mistakes as lapses in the development of the cadre organisation, infiltration of anti-revolutionaries into the revolutionary leadership and lack of commitment by some party members.
Mr. Kporgbe, also referred to as ex-Bombardier Joe Atiso, however appealed to the cadres to re-organise themselves and work tirelessly as bedrocks of the party to canvas for votes to enable the party re-gain power.
Mr Modestus Ahiable, Volta Regional Chairman of the party expressed regret that the party has lost some of the dedicated foot soldiers due to perceived injustice and appealed to such cadres to rejoin the party. Lt.Col.
Cyril Necku (Rtd) called for a security intelligence network for the party to provide the leadership with vital information.
He advised the leadership of the party to map out strategies and involve cadres in the execution of those strategies to enable the party to win the elections.
Mr Richard Agbodu Dzomeku, a cadre appealed to his colleagues to remain dedicated to the party towards winning the 2008 elections.
