Mr John Mahama, running mate to National Democratic Congress (NDC) flag-bearer Prof John Atta Mills kick-starts a four-day campaign tour of the Eastern Region on Friday August 22.
He is expected to visit the Lower Manya, Yilo and Upper Manya constituencies, in the region.
Mr Julius Debrah, Eastern Regional Chairman of the NDC, announced this at a press conference in Koforidua on Wednesday.
He said it would be Mr Mahama's first visit to the region since his nomination as the NDC flag-bearer's running mate.
Mr Debrah said Mr Mahama would attend the final funeral rites of Osabarima Nana Otu Pabi IV, Akuapem Guan Adontenhene and Mamponghene at Akuapem-Mampong on Friday and address rallies in Asuogyaman Constituency.
He explained that Mr Mahama's visit would be a curtain raiser for Professor John Evans Atta-Mills, the Party's flag bearer to tour the Region later in the year.
