CPP: Ghana is bigger than NPP & NDC

Recent clashes between supporters of the NDC and the NPP point to a disturbing unfolding trend. The violence that took place last week in the Northern Region as a result of the alleged registration by minors by the NDC is disgraceful and illustrates how intense the rivalry is between two parties with very little difference between them. Reports indicate that gunshots were fired, scaring away many people who had hoped to register to vote this year. Leaders of both parties owe the country a duty to ensure that there is calm across the length and breadth of the country as we prepare to go to the ballot in December. Both the NDC and the NPP should desist from acts that will disturb the peace and put the December 7th elections at risk. First time voters who are keen to make their vote count this year should feel free to register in their numbers. This year, voters have an alternative and should not be confused by the NPP and the NDC’s ugly noises. We have positioned ourselves as the party for first time voters especially and are keen to see a smooth registration exercise unfold. We are working to win the youth over to our side; those who turn 18 this year and the many other young voters who sometimes feel that voting will not make any difference to their lives. That is why our presidential candidate took the time to take part in the event dubbed “Youth Explosion” at the Trade Fair Centre and in the NUGS debate at the University of Ghana where they gave him the title “Youth President”. That is also why our presidential candidate has put out a direct message to first time voters since the reopening of the voters register. The NDC NPP political rivalry cannot be good for Ghana. It is possible to have a decent campaign with an outcome acceptable to all. Our parliamentary primaries have been peaceful and devoid of any of the violence that accompanied the NPP primaries. Our running mate selection is ongoing and is also without the noise and bickering associated with other parties. That is the way of the new CPP. Our presidential candidate has taken time to visit the conflict areas of Bawku, Zebilla and Pusiga. These communities need peace in order to take part successfully in the December polls. They deserve peace. Once again, we renew our call for a debate between the presidential aspirants. The people of Ghana deserve to know which of them is capable of hitting the ground running once inaugurated as President in January next year. The problems of this country are many. The people of Ghana must weigh their decisions carefully this December. The CPP is the alternative for change; change you can feel in your pocket. Ghanaians are tired of the trading of insults, accusations and counter-accusations between the NDC and the NPP. This country deserves better and the sooner we get these two parties to take a back seat, the better. Campaign Committee – Nduom for President ’08
