Former President Rawlings will lead a team of professional experts to begin an intensive campaign aimed at dethroning the ruling New Patriotic Party, aide to the ex- president has confirmed.
Referring to the former president as “the best political tactician in the country,” Kofi Adams says the founder of the National Democratic Congress will be used in strategic positions in the campaign to ensure the return of the NDC.
Speaking to Joy news on Friday Mr. Adams says Mr. Rawlings will embark on a nation wide tour to have serious discussions with leaders of religious and traditional groups, civil societies, at their places of work
The visit to these leaders will be to reciprocate earlier courtesy calls paid him by those leaders in his residence, Mr. Adams confirmed.
He however dismissed rumours that the ex- president had abandoned the Mills campaign, saying he needed to take a back seat to allow for the presidential candidate and his vice to market themselves across the country.
“The flag bearer and his vice are now well known and the time has come for all to put their hands on deck and the former president is not going to be left out.” he stressed.
In an earlier interview with Alex Segbefia campaign coordinator of the NDC, he said the ex- president is the single individual with the largest support base and his inclusion in the campaign will boost the electoral fortunes of the NDC.
He said Mr. Rawlings will be part of a three prong campaign strategy to woo the electorates who believe in him for purposes of the registration exercise and the voting due for December this year.
