Mills celebrates birthday with orphanage

Professor John Evans Atta Mills, Leader and Presidential Candidate of the NDC, marked his 64th birthday on Monday. To underscore his caring nature, the NDC Leader, reached out to orphans of the Peace & Love orphanage managed by Madam Grace Omaboe, aka Maame Dokono at Frafraha, a suburb of Accra where his wife, Mrs Naadu Mills, presented various items. Mrs. Naadu Mills on behalf of Professor Mills presented bags of rice, bags of sugar, gallons of cooking oil, boxes of drinks, food seasoning and boxes of biscuits to the orphanage. Making the presentation, Mrs. Mills said she and her husband were contributing their widow’s mite to the orphanage and hoped that the fortunate in society will always reach out to the less fortunate. “My husband believes that there is more blessing in giving than receiving and believes in sharing hence this humble gesture of ours” said Mrs. Mills. Mrs. Naadu Mills, a teacher herself, thanked the teachers for the huge sacrifice they are making in educating the kids and encouraged them to keep up their good work. She also advised the youth to stay away from premarital sex, explaining that it brings untold hardships to the two parties. On behalf of the orphanage, and on behalf of Maame Dokono, Mrs. Eric Adu Opare, the Supervisor, thanked Prof and Mrs Mills for their very kind gesture and promised that the orphanage will forever be grateful that of all the orphanages in Ghana, the former vice president and Leader of the NDC chose the Peace and Love orphanage to celebrate his birthday with. On the issue of the sacrifices that the teachers are making, the Supervisor said “As teachers, we hope that when you and your husband become the President and First Lady, you will pay particular attention to the plight of teachers, especially those of us who are sacrificing the way we are.” Last year, Professor Mills celebrated his birthday at the Saltpond Hospital, where he donated items to the hospital. Indeed, the year before, he also celebrated his birthday at the Osu Children’s Home. Mrs. Naadu Mills was accompanied by the Parliamentary Candidate for Adenta, Mr. Kojo Adu Asare, Ms. Kakra Vanlare, Greater Accra Vice Chairperson, Nii Lantey Vanderpuje, Director of Operations of the Mills Campaign Team, Koku Anyidoho, Head of Communications, Mills Campaign Team, Miss Clarissa Acolatse, Office of Prof Mills and other executives of the Adenta Constituency.
