Incarcerated former GNPC boss, Mr. Tsatsu Tsikata pulled yet another legal gymnastic in court on Wednesday calling for the withdrawal of Supreme Court Judge Justice Brobbey from the panel that is hearing the case of bias against him by Justice Henrietta Abban.
Mr. Tsikata said Justice Brobbey had earlier chaired a committee investigating another allegation of bias against Mrs. Abban in the matter relating the sentencing of Keta MP, Mr. Dan Abodakpi.
In that case, Justice Brobbey ruled there was no act of impropriety against the judge and therefore exonerated her.
With that history, Justice Brobbey, Mr. Tsikata believes could be trusted to be an impartial member of the panel.
Following the protest, Justice Brobbey readily agreed to stay out of the panel.
He however wondered why Mr. Tsikata waited until the panel was constituted and raised his objection in open court.
In response, Mr. Tsikata said he had no prior knowledge of the composition of the panel.
Mr. Tsikata had filed a petition of bias against him by Justice Henritta Abban who sentenced him to five years imprisonment a couple of weeks ago.
He is praying the Supreme Court quash the verdict of Mrs Abban.
The case has been referred to the Chief Justice, Mrs. Justice Georgina Theodora Wood who is expected to the find a replacement for Justice Brobbey if she thinks there is merit in Tsikata’s protest.
