A man, Stephen Awuni has been arrested on Monday for posing as a doctor at the Okomfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.
Awuni, 29 who was dressed in a doctor’s apparel led a patient into the Medical Emergency Unit for treatment.
Explaining how Awuni was arrested, Mr. Kwame Frimpong Public Relations Officer of the hospital told Joy news that the Doctors worked in teams and was easy identifying an impostor.
Awuni was seen collecting money from the patient by one of the doctors which further confirmed earlier suspicions.
According to Mr. Frimpong it was not the policy of the hospital to collect money directly from patients.
Awuni was said to have been without stethoscope and an Identity Card.
When confronted by the doctor’s, the suspect earlier denied allegations that he was an impostor.
According to him (the impostor) the patient needed help, and he decided to offer it.
Upon further interrogation by the doctors, Awuni admitted getting the doctors coat from Offinso and used it as a rain coat before today’s adventure, Mr. Frimpong confirmed.
Awuni has however been handed over to the police for investigations to continue.
