Sheikh I.C. Quaye, Greater Accra Regional Minister on Saturday called on Ghanaians to pursue the truth to help the country’s development process.
He noted that without the truth, it would be difficult for Ghanaians to create a decent and sound moral environment to build the nation.
The Minister made the call at a special harvest and fund raising service organized by the Seventh Day Adventist Church (SDA), Mataheko in aid of the Kaneshie SDA Church project in Accra.
"As Christians, we have the onerous responsibility to be peacemakers who should build bridges of understanding and reconciliation and leave no stone unturned to remove rancour and mistrust in our society", he stated.
Sheikh Quaye appealed to Christians to register when the voters’ registrations begin and vote massively during the 2008 elections.
He said Christians have the duty and obligation to decide who they want to rule the country to ensure that there was peace for them to serve their God.
Quaye advised the congregation to do away with apathy which is a drawback to good governance and rather be patriotic citizens and urged Christians to be tolerant of all shades of opinion and views to help promote peace, unity and development.
Mr. Kwame Osei-Prempeh, Deputy Minister of Justice and Attorney General, charged the congregation to seek the welfare of the country, “It is only when there is peace and harmony in the nation that we, as Christian can worship God”.
He cautioned the members to help fight indiscipline and violent acts in the country since it was an obstacle that could drawback the country’s peace and development.
Pastor Kobina Yamoah, who gave a brief history about the Kanashie branch said it was established as a result of evangelical campaigns organized by the Mataheko branch. He said members staying in the neighbourhood expressed interest and consequently 15 out of the 25 nucleus members were baptized.
