As the Onetouch Premier League winds up, fears have been raised about the possibility of match fixing in tomorrow’s crucial duels.
Hasaacas, Zaytuna, and Real Tamale United are all up for relegation and a match of convenience could not be ruled out.
Real Tamale United’s three decades in the premiership is on the ropes and only a draw against Zaytuna can save them.
Zaytuna was given a reprieve from relegation when their protest against Real Sportive for using an unqualified player was upheld, but now has the arduous task of collecting the three maximum points against RTU, to confirm a place in next years premier league.
Even though Hasaacas have been impregnable at their own back yard, a defeat to Kumasi based Kessben FC could spell doom for the Sekondi based club.
These scenarios have fueled perception of a possible match fixing by any of the four teams.
The Professional League Board headed by Mr. Welbeck Abra Appiah has taken cognizance of that fact, and has initiated moves to address them.
According to him the two matches will be played simultaneously, with GBS telecasting the two matches live from both venues.
Whether these mechanisms are enough to check the threat of match fixing still remains to be seen.
