Stanbic supports Otumfuo Education Fund

STANBIC Bank Ghana Limited has donated GH¢15,000 to the Otumfuo Education Fund. The Board of Directors of the bank, led by the chairman, Mr Emmanuel Asiedu Mante, made the presentation when they paid a courtesy call on the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, at the Manhyia Palace. The call was to enhance the cordial relations between Stanbic Bank and the Asantehene. Members of the board of directors who were at the Manhyia Palace included Ms Joyce Aryee, Alhaji Fatau and the Managing Director of the bank, Mr Alhassan Andani. The Asantehene advised the board of directors of Stanbic to focus on the informal sector and encourage businesses in that sector to save their money in the bank. He said it was still worrying that only about 60 percent of the money in circulation was at the banks with the remaining 40 percent being in people's homes and shops. The Asantehene said the growth of the economy depended greatly on investments in the private sector and therefore, urged the banks to assist the informal sector to grow. Mr Asiedu Mante said at the moment Stanbic was supporting the informal sector and added that the business arrow of the bank was to continue supporting the country's economy. He said the bank offered financial assistance to the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) to purchase brand new buses. He gave the assurance that the bank would continue to support its customers, business people, small and medium-scale enterprises to help develop Ghana's economy. He restated the bank's readiness to collaborate with the government to improve the productive sectors of the economy and create an enabling environment for job creation and expressed the hope that it would compete fully with the other commercial banks within the next three years.
