A Circuit Court in Accra has sentenced a 26 year-old mason to seven years imprisonment for defiling and impregnating a 13 year old girl at Asofan, Accra.
William Kamassah pleaded guilty to the charge of defilement.
The Court presided over by Ms Sedina Agbemava convicted Kamassah on his own plea noting that his explanation was no defence.
Prosecuting Chief Inspector Vero Ofei told the court that the complainant was the victim’s father, and that, they live with Kamassah in an uncompleted building at Asofan.
He said in December last year, the convict lured the victim into his room and defiled her, leading to the victim becoming pregnant.
The victim later narrated her ordeal to her mother who discovered that she was pregnant.
Chief Inspector Ofei said the victim’s mother informed her father, who reported the matter to the Domestic Violence and Victim’s Support Unit at Tesano.
The Police issued a medical form to the victim to attend hospital for examination and treatment, where it was detected that she was five months pregnant.
Chief Inspector Ofei said Kamassah was arrested and during police interrogation he admitted the offence.
