The Presidential Candidate of the Democratic Freedom Party, (DFP) Emmanuel Ansah-Antwi, says the DFP is the only option when it comes to rescuing Ghanaians from poverty and hardship.
He said the party had numerous plans, which it believed would improve the economy when given the mandate in the December elections.
Mr. Ansah-Antwi said this in an interview with Ekourba Gyasi on Adom Dwaso Nsem on Thursday.
He said one of the pillars which the DFP would use to improve the economy was what he described as “the green revolution.”
Mr Ansah-Antwi said under the green revolution, farmers and fishermen would be given incentives to boost production.
He noted with regret that even though majority of Ghanaians were engaged in farming, they were the poorest in the country. He said since most Ghanaians are farmers there is the need to encourage them with the provision of inputs and financial assistance for them to go into large scale farming.
Ansah Antwi said special credit facilities would be made available to farmers to ensure all year round food production and also create adequate market for farmers.
He said DFP is the party for the youth and that priority attention would be given to the free Compulsory Universal Basic Education (FCUBE) to ensure that every child is educated to the highest level.
"A DFP Government under my leadership shall therefore develop a National Youth Policy with the full participation of the youth themselves through organized forum to empower them to shape their own destiny and inculcate such policies in our educational curriculum as well as our public administrative machinery."
He stated that under his DFP-led government, he would develop a national youth policy with a full participation of the youth. He would also place premium on gender issues.
He stressed "Gender issues shall be a top priority in my government. I will promote gender equality through affirmative action in all areas of national development.
On his chances in the December elections, the DFP flag bearer said he is hopeful of securing a first round victory as he tours around the country during his campaign, he realises that the Ghanaian electorate has embraced the ideas and vision of the DFP especially their policy of a “Green Revolution”.
Mr Ansah-Antwi stressed that the DFP had come to stay, and appealed to the electorate to give their support to the party to ensure that it emerged victorious in the December 7 election.
He also added that in the event that the DFP does not secure a first round victory, the Party will only go into any alliance with the Political party that will commit itself to implementing the “Green Revolution” of the Democratic Freedom Party.
He however cautioned the electorates to be wary of the New Patriotic Party and the National Democratic Congress .According to him the two parties have had the privilege of ruling the country and they have proved ineffective, so Ghanaians should give the nod to the DFP to better manage the affairs of Ghana.
