The national chairman of the New Vision Party (NVP), Mr Aaron King says the party was founded on social democratic principles and was committed to pursuing policies that would bring development to all Ghanaians.
He said the country’s poor development compared with its abundant resources was as a result of greed by its leaders and accused the Government of mismanaging state resources.
Mr King said these at an NVP congress to elect its Greater Accra regional branch executives on Saturday in Accra.
He explained that the party was called New Vision because it had new ideas to redeem the country from the current economic situation.
Mr King said health would be free for all and pension packages enhanced for the benefit of the aged.
He debunked the notion that the NVP was religious-based, saying, membership was opened to every one and urged Ghanaians to support the party.
Alhaji Ishmael Appiah, newly elected Greater Accra Regional Chairman on behalf of other executives promised to work hard to ensure victory for the party in the 2008 Election.
He called on other political parties to prepare adequately for the 2008 campaign because the NVP would give them a tough time.
The NVP announced it would complete the election of all its regional executives by the end of July this year after which it would hold a national congress to elect its flag bearer for the polls.
The new 16 party officials, declared unopposed, were: Alhaji Appiah, chairman, Reverend Emmanuel Nyarko, first vice chairman, elder Samuel Ampah, second vice chairman, Bernard Aflatornu, secretary, Fred Owusu, deputy secretary, elder Emmanuel Mensah, treasurer.
Others were Nana Ankoma Adjei, deputy treasurer, Hanson Tortimeh, organizer, Philip Vordo, deputy treasurer, Solomon King, youth organizer, and Charles Baidoo, deputy youth organizer.
The rest were Salome Adukwa, women organizer, Adelaide Quartey, first deputy women organizer, Ayishatu Mumuni, second deputy women organizer, Paul Adu Boahen, propaganda secretary and Bernard Bosompru, deputy propaganda secretary.
