TESCON group gives NPP leaders ultimatum

Members of the Tertiary Students Confederation (TESCON) of the Amansie East Constituency of the NPP, have issued an ultimatum to the leadership of the party to respond to the demands of the constituents in order to consolidate the party's grip on the parliamentary seat. They have threatened to resign en bloc from the party to protect their integrity. Mr. Francis Appiadu Poku, President of the local TESCON at a Press conference at Bekwai last Monday urged party leaders to act within two weeks, or else "TESCON members would leave the party". They are calling for the removal or resignation of the incumbent Member of Parliament, who they say has lost touch with the people. "Honourable Adusei has woefully failed Amansie East. "He is a complete failure to Amansieman and therefore must go," the students said. According to The Chronicle, the student body is wondering why the party hierarchy is taking the risk of losing over 49,000 votes by not taking major decisions to make the necessary changes in response to the demands of the constituents. Appiadu Poku indicated that the problem of the constituents of Bekwai has to do with the MP and not the NPP as a party. According to the local TESCON, real development has eluded the people of the constituency and in spite of the excellent performance of the NPP administration over the past seven years, the Bekwai constituency still wallows in the doldrums of poverty. The students argued that the MP has demonstrated extreme lack of commitment to the people he represents in Parliament, and should therefore be advised to step down or risk losing the seat. "There are a lot of better, competent, able minded and dedicated sons of NPP in Amansie who are willing to serve the people of Bekwai constituency," they claimed. They asserted that events that unfolded after the primary was enough disapproval of his continued representation of the people, and that explains the fact that he is out of touch with the people.
